Spencer Silvers, DVM  - Director

Dr. Spencer Silvers graduated from Colorado State University 1976 with a BS in Animal Science and graduated from the University of Parma Italy in 1981 with his DVM. He attended Kansas State University of Veterinary Medicine for his post graduate training and received his Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) certification in 1982. After being in private practice for several years, from 1982-1989, he decided to open his own practice.  Lexington Veterinary Group was established in September 1989 with an expansion in 1998 for our second satellite office.

Dr. Silvers special interests are internal medicine and dentistry. He continues to attend continuation education programs in these fields every year.

Dr. Silvers is married to his wife Shelley and has two children Taylor, and Alec. In addition to the human members he has three cats, Oslo, Oliver and Orson and three dogs Bernie, Bella and Ruby.

In his free time Dr. Silvers stays very busy with his Bernese mountain dog Bernie who demands all his attention when not at the practice. In between dog parks and hiking he helps his son Alec pursue his soccer career as he travels throughout the tri-state to soccer games.

 

Hospital Staff

Chris Farfan

Chris joined us in 2007 as an assistant. After a short while he was promoted to head assistant. He is a NYC native, born and raised in Brooklyn. He has over 15 years experience as an assistant and has worked at numerous veterinary clinics throughout the five NYC boroughs. Although he graduated from John Jay College with a BA in Forensic Science, he decided to stay in the veterinary field following his father’s footsteps who is a veterinarian. In his free time he enjoys acting.

 

Venus Velez

Venus has been working with since 2007. She started her position here as an Intern from The Institute for Collaborative Education and continued to stay with us after graduating high school as an assistant. She is currently enrolled in Hunter College pursing a major in sociology. After graduation she hopes to become a social worker for a private agency dealing with the elderly or children.

During her free time she participates in many activities at Hunter College. She is also a member in the Latinos Honor Society and has a leadership role in the Hostos Puerto Rican Club and as President.  

Venus says, “I enjoy working at Lex Vet Group not only because of the animals that I get to look after, but the faculty itself is like a family. The kindness and closeness that is shared within the hospital, with the faculty and clients, sets the mood for a pleasurable working environment.” She owns a 13 year old Chihuahua name Baby.
